Bad for health

The most harmful of plastics are the Grade 3 (PVC) plastics – which are also a human carcinogen.

Other plastics contain harmful phthalates and they are leaching – they leach into the landfills and even into your food through plastic cookware. So much so, that even the hard plastic milk containers and those used for water bottles are harmful because they contain polycarbonates which are made of toxic chlorine gas derivatives and carcinogenic solvents.

Whatever you do, don’t heat your food in plastics – that will only cause the plastics to leach into your food with harmful effects.

The lesser evil among plastics are the grade 1 and 2 plastics because of their highly recyclable properties.

Bad for environment

Plastics are made of oil and gas, both fast depleting resources of the planet.
Moreover, plastics due to their non-decomposing nature are making our earth one big garbage dump.
Let’s do our bit to prevent our lovely planet being covered with one big non-biodegradable sheath.

Bottomline: If cost is not a big issue, avoid plastics altogether.
